Silently Letting Go

diabetes 300x207 Silently Letting GoAfter 2 ½ years of going to and from the hospital every day, Dad (Munchkin’s Dad) passed away. He battled with throat Cancer and Chronic kidney failure for 2-long and agonizing years. Dialysis 3 times a week and radioactive therapy everyday was like hell made in earth for him.

When he passed away, the family can’t help but to feel sad and happy at the same time for him. Though with heavy hearts, we could say that he is already in heaven (after going through hell with all the needles pricking his skin everyday).

Now, we need to move on and we have to. After Dad’s burial, we were all silent at home. No one wants to talk or open up a conversation about him. It seems very ironic when we all pretend to be okay, but, deep in our hearts, we feel the same sense of lost.

Honestly, I miss dad. We are moving on right now and picking up what we have left in our lives from that day when we received Dad’s medical results that he has cancer or the day when we need to make a decision if he will start his dialysis because of kidney failure due to Diabetes.

I am not familiar with having a free time anymore because for the last 2 years we were all busy taking care of Dad. I only have three routines back then, work, sleep a few hours, and then rush Dad in the hospital. Everyday for two long years, we were all like this.

Life is really unpredictable. Uncle Roger, who also lived with us and we all thought he was a healthy man passed away before Dad did. He had a heart attack. We had 2 funerals to take care of in less than 40-days.

It is a sad thing for my little Chesca to be very familiar with death at her young age (4-years-old). This is also probably the reason why I feel I need to do something with my health as well. Although I am not afraid to die, but it seems I have to do something with my health and how I live my life. Life is really too short so we need to enjoy every moment of it.
